I wanted to join Zeta because, as a second-semester freshman, I was struggling to find my place at Emerson and people who I was comfortable enough with to be my authentic self. Though I originally could never picture myself in a FSL organization, once I heard about Zeta at the Emerson Org Fair, I was immediately intrigued. Zeta is an organization that is comprised of members who all come from different majors and background but work together as a family to help us all achieve our individual goals. Through joining Zeta, not only did I find a family on campus, but I was inspired by all the amazing members and alumni who positively impact the Emerson community.
What are you involved in on campus besides Zeta?
American Marketing Association and EmComm
How do you think Zeta has helped you professionally and personally?
Zeta has helped me professionally by connecting me with alumni and mentors who have served as an inspiration for post-grad life and have given me amazing life advice. Personally, Zeta has given me the opportunity to meet people I would have never encountered at Emerson and introduced me to people that have changed my life and I know that I will be friends with forever.
What are you the most proud of out of your time at Emerson?
I'm most proud of my growth as a individual in terms of my self-confidence and identity. I am finally proud of who I have become as a person and believe that I can do anything with my life.
Where do you see yourself in the future?
My dream is to live in New York working as the head of a creative marketing team for an entertainment company.
If you had a message to get someone through the day what would it be?
I know it is cheesy but everything happens for a reason and enjoying life is all about perspective. Though things go wrong and life will never get any easier, you have control over your life and the ability to achieve anything you want if you work hard enough and remain hopeful.
What's something about Zeta you would tell someone that could change their view on "American Greek life"?
Zeta is extremely different from the stereotypical view of "American Greek Life" because one may imagine binge drinking and hazing as part of Greek life. However, those things are completely against the principles of Zeta. Instead, Zeta focuses on a family of diverse and gender-inclusive individuals who help each other both personally and professionally.
