I joined Zeta because I not only felt a connection with the members when I attended recruitment, but I also truly admired the organization as a whole, especially the way members speak about lifting up fellow Zetas professionally and help them grow.
What are you involved in on campus besides Zeta?
I am in the Tap Company of EUDT (Emerson Urban Dance Theatre) where I serve both as a choreographer and the company coordinator for the company as a whole, I work as a Welcome Desk Assistant, I am an Orientation Leader, and I am involved in student theatre on campus.
How do you think Zeta has helped you professionally and personally?
Personally, (as corny as it sounds), I think that Zeta has really given me a sense of family on campus which is something I wouldn't trade for anything. Professionally, Zeta has helped me learn how to delegate and how to trust my fellow professionals to do a task I give them well, which is something that has been very difficult for me in the past. Additionally, Zeta has also taught me the importance of directing my energy towards the things that matter most to me, and that it is okay to say no to people or opportunities sometimes.
What are you most proud of out of your time at Emerson?
I'm most proud of myself, for being here, for having moved across the country by myself and for having found a community of incredible people that both pushes me artistically and professionally and has shaped my time here.
Where do you see yourself in the future?
I see myself moving to either New York or Chicago and really just working towards becoming a successful working actress. If I can make money doing theatre, doing the thing I love most, I will be so incredibly happy.
If you had a message to get someone through the day, what would it be?
You are a human in process, you will never stop being in process, so be okay with the fact that you are not "complete" and that failure is a part of the process.
What's something about Zeta you would tell someone that could change their view on "American Greek Life?"
Zeta isn't a typical fraternity or sorority because our goal is not to party as much as possible or whatever other stereotype is associated with American Greek Life. Our goal is to make each other as successful as possible professionally and personally, so in that way I think Zeta has taken the concept of American Greek Life and made it a very positive, uplifting thing.
I'm busy working on my blog posts. Watch this space!
